Levelling Up, The 2022-2023 Season

With the 2021-2022 basketball season, was disrupted by the backend of the pandemic. The whole basketball community was excited for the 2022-2023 basketball season to start. Especially Newport Aces players!

We took full advantage of the warm summer months, by offering a variety of summer basketball activities. We ran our weekly ‘Pay & Play’ basketball session all summer, hosted 3x3 basketball tournaments. Took ten Newport Aces players and volunteers, to Birmingham to attend and support basketball at the 2022 Commonwealth games.

With so much basketball in one small city, the inspiration of players was inevitable. This inspiration was evident during the annual combine trial, for the 2022-2023 basketball season. With our community provision participation, already on the rise. We saw massive increase in players, interested in competing in basketball. We had over seventy players attend the combine, allowing us to create and enter eight teams into the South Wales Valleys League, Cardiff Basketball League, and numerous Central Venue Leagues.

Participation isn’t the only thing increasing, we have seen an improvement in each age groups performances, results, and our basketball community.
