Newport Aces Players Earn National League Selection

Azaria Abdie-Waite and Max Birchall, two players, that started basketball with us at U10 trial for Bristol Academy Flyers for the 22-23 season. Azaria trialled for U16 girls while Max tried out for U18 men.

Both players have been hardworking and dedicated, since they were as young as eight years old. They were confident and had high hopes of successfully being selected. As the competition in the English National League is twice as competitive as in Wales, prior to the trial both Azaria and Max made sure they put in some extra work through 1-2-1 training with our coaches at local outdoor courts in and around Newport.

Both Azaria and Max came away from the trial knowing they had done the best they could to positively contribute and standout in the trial with both impressing the Bristol Academy Flyer coaches. Just a week later both Azaria and Max had an email from the head coaching staff to congratulate them on making the team. Both players were ecstatic, and confident knowing their hard work and dedication is paying off.
